D I O N L E E

In every designer's journey there is always that one person that inspired them to dive head first into the fashion industry. The one person that has a unique take on garment construction and sees fashion in a different light. Some designers look at clothing like art, others look at fashion as a money maker. But there is always that one particular person that inspires a designer to challenge themselves and push the boundaries of art and clothing.

In my case, that particular inspiration has been drawn from Dion Lee. An Australian born designer who attended the exact school I'm attending now. I cannot begin to explain the magnificent mind of Dion Lee.

My favourite design to date would be Dion's Woolmark 2012 entry.

Dion Lee has been dubbed the prodigy of the Australian Fashion Industry with his origami like pieces and his continuing fascination with the human skeletal system, he will continue to dominate the fashion world. I hope that one day that I will be able to follow in his footsteps.

S E T A R E H.

(Source: Setareh Mohtarez)

While looking for inspiration for unique silhouettes I remembered a few months ago I came across a student designer, Setareh Mohtarez. The dresses she created were beyond magnificent with dreamy galaxy prints and she displayed extraordinary ways of morphing fabric into what looked like blossoming flowers. I could not fathom how she could conjure such creations AS A STUDENT TOO!

I personally believe she made galaxy photographic prints BIG. You know how you see all those tweens rocking those galaxy leggings, yes THOSE. Before these hipster leggings came about Setareh created these gorgeous get ups.

Setareh is a New York based designer, yet another reason for me to go to New York! Hopefully one day I get to meet her and my designs are just as good as hers! Anyways if you like her collection she does made-to-measure orders right here!

MBFWA - BOWIE

(source: vogue)

One particular designer that I believe has caught everyone's eye at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has to be Bowie with his collection of evening wear. Every girl in that room would have had a sneak peak into what their future wedding dresses should look like. Bowie has definitely set an example as to what the perfect wedding dress should look like. I cannot exaggerate enough as to how absolutely divine Bowie's designs were with his twist on classic floor length gowns. All his dresses were modern and edgy composed on a classic silhouette.

I definitely could imagine myself in one of his dresses for my wedding... not that that's happening anytime soon. The embellishments adorned on each piece are so intricately woven in and the silhouettes he has created are so femininely chic yet his experimentation with different materials is a whole new take on full length gowns. Enough gushing by me but one last thing. Doesn't it remind you of designs that come out of Milan or Paris? Oh how I'm reminiscing of the days that I too will one day be doing high fashion especially haute couture.

Do you guys love?
